Weld clad overlay is the activity where we deposit a corrosion resistant alloy (CRA) over the surface of a component, normally made of carbon steel. The standard CRAs are stainless steel or nickel alloys, depending on the corrosive environment. Nickel alloys like the Inconel 625 are used in the Oil & Gas industry to prevent corrosion attack caused by H₂S and CO₂. Several are the welding processes that we can use to perform a weld overlay and the selection is based on the size of the equipment, it´s shape complexity, deposition rate and dilution rate.
